Job Summary

This position is available for the school year at Davis School District.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Compile and maintain children's permanent special education files.
  • Provide training and modeling for data collection for classroom teachers.
  • Responsible for recording data, compiling data recorded by others, and tracking progress of children's Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
  • Provide training and modeling for classroom staff within the classroom setting.

Within the classroom, the Special Education teacher works with children in adapting classroom activities to meet IEP goals.

  • Participate fully in classroom activities in conjunction with classroom staff to provide opportunities for children.
  • Provide training to classroom staff in confidentiality.

Document dates of training and those in attendance.

  • Follow and complete transition process for each child in accordance with department transition guidelines.
  • Be an active participant in weekly team meetings with individual classroom teachers.

Focus on individual children and submit a copy of the team meeting form to the Disabilities Manager at weekly staff meetings.

  • Attend monthly inservice with an attitude of learning.
  • Attend and be prepared for meetings.
  • Attend parent orientation meetings for Preschool/Head Start classes when possible.
  • Participate in assessment teams as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Two years of experience related to the above tasks, knowledge, skills, and abilities, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
