Job Summary

The Paving Laborer - Construction Specialist is responsible for performing various laborer duties, including shoveling and raking asphalt, and operating small equipment for groundwork and paving purposes. This role requires a strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Observe and adjust the distribution of paving material to ensure accurate placement.
  • Lay out guidelines for paving according to written specifications, using string or spray paint.
  • Regulate screed temperatures and asphalt flow rates to achieve optimal results.
  • Fill tanks, hoppers, or machines with paving materials, ensuring accurate measurements.
  • Install dies, cutters, and extensions to screeds onto machines, using hand tools.
  • Perform other related duties, such as adding or removing screed extensions, installing, or removing automatic devices, grade log or other accessories associated with the machine.
  • Coordinate and spot truck dumping and shovel blacktop, ensuring efficient workflow.
  • Setup and tear down equipment, maintaining a safe and organized work environment.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) is preferred.
  • Previous related experience in the construction field is a plus.
  • Standard Driver's License is preferred.
