Job Overview
The Patient Service Representative (PSR) plays a crucial role in ensuring a welcoming environment for all patients and visitors. This position involves registering patients in accordance with established protocols and maintaining an organized workflow within the medical office.

Key Responsibilities
  • Greet patients and visitors with professionalism and courtesy.
  • Manage patient appointment scheduling and updates efficiently.
  • Retrieve and maintain daily patient information for appointments and inquiries.
  • Support healthcare providers by managing their schedules and maintaining accurate medical records.
  • Handle various administrative tasks including filing, copying, and purging medical charts.
  • Collect co-payments and perform data entry for office visit charges.
  • Process collections for outstanding balances and ensure accurate coding of encounter forms using appropriate CPT and ICD-10 codes.
  • File and refile insurance claims, ensuring compliance with billing regulations.
  • Reconcile charge sheets and manage cash drawer activities, including preparing bank deposits.
  • Review and correct discrepancies on the missing ticket report.
  • Perform closing procedures to maintain accurate account balances.
  • Assist with referrals and precertifications as needed.
  • Prepare documentation for audit purposes.

Qualifications
Required:
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in data entry and database management.
  • Ability to uphold patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Strong communication skills to interact respectfully with patients and staff.

Preferred:
  • Familiarity with CPT and ICD-9 coding and billing practices.
  • Experience with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems.
