A Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) plays a vital role in providing comprehensive care to patients/residents under the supervision of a licensed nurse. This role involves assisting patients with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, eating, grooming, toileting, and exercising. The CNA also assists with medical tasks, such as taking vital signs, administering medications, and reporting patient behavior and well-being.
Key Responsibilities- Provide physical support for patients/residents with daily activities and personal hygiene, including bathing, dressing, and grooming.
- Assist patients with daily medication and supplements, ensuring proper administration and documentation.
- Turn and reposition bedridden patients to prevent pressure ulcers and promote comfort.
- Ensure proper resident/patient diet based on their dietary restrictions and preferences.
- Measure and record food and liquid intake to monitor patient hydration and nutrition.
- Examine patients for open wounds, bruises, or blood in urine, and report any concerns to the nursing staff.
- Communicate patient/resident behavior and changes in mood to the nursing staff, ensuring prompt attention and care.
- Clean rooms and bed linens to maintain a clean and safe environment.
- Check and record vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rate, under the supervision of a licensed nurse.
- Answer patient calls and needs promptly and professionally.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- State Certified Nursing Assistant License/Certification.
