Key Responsibilities

  • Respond to service requests from the Service Resource Center, including brief descriptions of equipment/system issues.
  • Communicate with customer representatives to identify equipment/systems problems.
  • Diagnose issues and perform maintenance and repairs on electronic fire alarm systems and related building system products at client locations.
  • Adhere to established troubleshooting protocols and consult technical manuals, part manuals, change notices, and bulletins to rectify equipment issues.
  • Service, troubleshoot, and install various manufacturers' Fire & Life Safety systems, including SimplexGrinnell.
  • Interpret blueprints, diagrams, specifications, software/systems, programs, schematics, and operational product manuals.
  • Demonstrate excellent customer service skills by maintaining consistent communication with district staff and clients to ensure satisfaction.
  • Complete Service Acknowledgements with accurate coding via communication devices, such as smartphones and laptops.
  • Obtain customer signatures upon completion of service assignments.
  • Participate in a scheduled on-call rotation and assist in training or mentoring other service team members.
  • Deliver the highest level of service to clients, addressing building inefficiencies and resolving service-related issues. As a trusted advisor, provide solutions and outcomes during service calls.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Execution Approach

  • This skilled role involves troubleshooting and repairing installed systems, including panel repair/reprogramming, device replacement/repair, resolving low voltage circuit issues, and system testing.
  • Organize and effectively utilize technical resources, information, materials, and support to ensure efficient execution of all assigned tasks.
  • Candidates must possess strong written and verbal communication skills, along with outstanding customer service abilities.
  • Complete and submit all required task-related, activity, productivity, and other documentation promptly.
  • Occasional on-call and after-hours work may be required based on customer needs.
  • Provide recommendations and solutions to ensure facilities operate efficiently, including upselling opportunities.
  • Offer quotes to support recommendations and solutions.

Qualifications

Required

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience with fire alarm systems.
  • Ability to interpret blueprints, diagrams, and specifications.
  • Proficient computer skills are essential.
  • Capability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Physical ability to perform labor, including lifting and moving equipment and tools weighing up to 50-70 lbs. Must be able to work in challenging positions such as climbing ladders, scaffolding, and high lift equipment up to 40 feet, and working in ducts, crawl spaces, and above ceilings.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends, to meet customer requirements.
  • Overnight travel may be necessary.
  • Exhibit a high level of customer service.
  • Maintain truck inventory to ensure timely responses to customer needs.
  • Adhere to, implement, and follow safety guidelines and procedures consistently.
  • Strong organizational skills, a positive attitude, and a quick learning ability.
  • Possess a valid driver's license and maintain a driving record that meets company standards.
  • Retain any licenses required by National, State, and Local codes.

Preferred

  • Technical training.
  • Experience with CCTV, Access Controls, Intrusion systems, IT, and IP networks.
  • NICET II certification.
