Job Title: Principal Hardware Engineer

Microsoft Silicon, Cloud Hardware, and Infrastructure Engineering (SCHIE) is a team that powers Microsoft's expanding Cloud Infrastructure and is responsible for delivering the core infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft's over 200 online businesses.

The team is seeking a Principal Hardware Engineer who will be responsible for delivering cutting-edge, high-performance, low-power, scalable, and programmable silicon.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in hardware engineering, with experience in ASIC/SoC architecture, design, or verification. They will be able to work independently and as part of a team to develop and implement innovative hardware solutions.

Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop high-performance, low-power, and scalable hardware solutions
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement hardware architectures
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation and specifications
  • Participate in code reviews and ensure high-quality code
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies
Requirements:
  • 9+ years of related technical engineering experience
  • Strong background in hardware engineering, with experience in ASIC/SoC architecture, design, or verification
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Understanding of network protocols and applications
  • Knowledge of CPU, Cache Hierarchy, & SoC architecture/design
  • Team player with excellent communication skills and the desire to take on diverse challenges
