The School Health Care Specialist will provide comprehensive health care services to students, staff, and volunteers in the Hazelwood School District. The position involves assessing student conditions, administering medication, and maintaining accurate documentation of medicines received and dispensed.
The specialist will also review students' immunization records for compliance with state law and refer them for follow-up when necessary. Additionally, they will conduct basic health screenings, identify problems, and document them as needed.
Responsibilities:
- Assess student conditions and provide care or make referrals to appropriate medical personnel
- Administer prescribed medication to students per board policy and monitor for side effects
- Maintain accurate documentation of medicines received from parents and dispensed to students
- Review students' immunization records for compliance with state law and refer for follow-up when necessary
- Conduct basic health screenings, identify problems, and document them as needed
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) required
- Two years of nursing experience preferred
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions and deal with problems involving several concrete variables
- Excellent reading, writing, and speaking skills at an intermediate level
