Description

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Escort patients to and from exam rooms, assist patients in preparing for exams.
  • Enter medical histories and prescriptions into the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
  • Assist physicians during exams and procedures.
  • Perform extractions, injections, and other patient procedures.
  • Collect path and lab specimens, notify patients of results, and schedule follow-up appointments.
  • Educate patients and respond to patient questions in the office or on the phone as needed.
  • Document all medical instructions given to patients.
  • Organize exam rooms, prepare procedure trays, clean and autoclave instruments, and stock supplies.
Qualifications
  • Experience:
    • Minimum two years' experience in a doctor's office.
    • Prior dermatology experience preferred.
  • Education:
    • Certification preferred (i.e., Certified Medical Assistant, Certified Dermatology Technician, etc.).
  • Other Requirements:
    • None.
Performance Requirements
  • Quality written and verbal communication skills.
  • Professional in appearance and mannerisms.
  • Knowledgeable of medical dermatology terms, CPT, and ICD-10.
  • Able to demonstrate compassion and caring in dealing with others, patients, and coworkers alike.
  • Able to prioritize tasks, understand the provider's instructions, and know when to seek information or advice.
Work Environment

Position is in a well-lighted medical office environment. Occasional evening and weekend work.

Physical Requirements

Must possess the manual dexterity to operate office machines, including computers and calculators; stooping, bending to handle files and supplies; and mobility to complete errands or deliveries.

Includes handling of sharps and chemicals. Stress can be triggered by multiple staff demands and deadlines.
