Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee and lead annual budgeting and planning process; administer and review all financial plans and compare to actual results with a view to identify, explain, and correct variances as appropriate.
  • Support the CEO in engaging the board's audit and finance committees around issues and trends in financial operating models and delivery.
  • Oversee all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems, ensuring compliance with appropriate Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, regulatory requirements, and audit requirements.
  • Maintain internal control safeguards and coordinate all audit activities.
  • Manage cash flow and forecasting; direct all financial, project-based, and departmental accounting.
  • Coordinate and lead the annual audit process, liaise with external auditors and the finance committee of the board of directors.
  • Oversee and ensure the organization's revenue cycle is managed effectively to maintain financial stability.
  • Develop and implement financial management strategies and practices that enhance operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with the senior leadership team to develop and implement strategies across the organization.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA and/or MBA preferred.
  • 6+ years of broad financial experience, including gathering and evaluating financial information and making actionable recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Experience in a senior financial-management role, partnering with executive staff, resulting in the development and implementation of creative financial management strategies.
  • Significant experience in or knowledge of nonprofit accounting, including sophisticated fund and grant accounting, compliance, and reporting.
  • Deep knowledge and understanding of the Office of Management and Budget Circular A133 audit.
  • Excellent judgment and creative problem-solving skills, including negotiation and conflict resolution.
  • Experience in effectively communicating key data, including presentations to senior management, board, or other outside partners.
  • Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and a commitment to the organization's mission.
