About the Role

Kanaan Communications is seeking a skilled Aerial Lineman to join our team. As an Aerial Lineman, you will be responsible for installing and repairing aerial telecommunications cable, ensuring the safe operation of equipment and vehicles, and maintaining a safe work environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install and repair aerial telecommunications cable
  • Safely operate equipment and vehicles
  • Understand and implement safe work site setup and maintenance procedures
  • Comply with separation and clearance regulations
  • Ability to safely work aloft
  • Flexibility to work in multiple locations and travel as required
Requirements
  • Successful completion of pre-employment background check, motor vehicle check, drug test, and DOT physical exam
  • A valid, unrestricted driver's license (Commercial driver's license preferred but not required)
  • Ability to climb telephone poles and work in a bucket truck and work aloft and climb poles up to 40 feet
  • Able to perform all duties in telecommunications construction (such as; pole transfers, maintenance builds, new build, cable installation, over lash, and strand construction)
  • High School Diploma or GED
Preferred Qualifications
  • Splicing of active & passive equipment
  • Previous construction experience, preferably in the telecommunications industry
  • Knowledge of established aerial cable installation procedures and techniques
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

The employee will be required to:

  • Climb into and out of equipment (trucks, cars, backhoes, trenchers, etc.)
  • Lift/carry 80 lbs. regularly as needed with or without assistance
  • Be able to sit, bend, use hands and fingers to handle or feel, reach with hands and arms to spaces both high and low, stand, walk, climb, balance, crawl, crouch, lift, hold, or stoop while on shift
  • Ability to work while wearing safety boots, safety glasses, and hardhat
  • Remote work may be required - long driving and sitting will be required in these instances
