Job Overview
The role of a Floor Maintenance Specialist involves a variety of tasks aimed at ensuring the cleanliness and maintenance of floor surfaces in commercial facilities. Responsibilities include:
  • Performing floor care activities such as sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, stripping, waxing, and buffing.
  • Assisting in carpet cleaning and extraction.
  • Occasionally moving furniture to access floor areas and conducting light cleaning tasks as needed.

This position requires the ability to lead and train apprentices effectively. Interaction with customers is a significant aspect of the role, necessitating a commitment to high-quality customer service.


Key Responsibilities
Expected duties include:
  • Stripping and waxing floors, buffing surfaces, and cleaning grout.
  • Conducting carpet cleaning and other related tasks.
  • Assisting in training staff, including safety protocols.
  • Performing quality assurance inspections as directed by management.
  • Distributing work assignments to team members.
  • Executing all floor care duties in compliance with company policies and manufacturer guidelines.
  • Carrying out preventative maintenance and minor repairs on equipment.
  • Maintaining cleanliness and functionality of equipment.
  • Reporting any worn or broken equipment to supervisors.
  • Managing keys and access control for equipment and assets.
  • Securing the premises upon completion of work.
  • Building and maintaining positive relationships with clients and team members.
  • Addressing customer complaints in a timely manner.

Physical Requirements
The role demands:
  • Balancing to prevent falls.
  • Mobility and flexibility, including climbing ladders.
  • Bending and kneeling to perform tasks.
  • Reaching in various directions.
  • Standing for extended periods.
  • Walking to complete assignments.
  • Ability to lift and push up to 60 pounds.
  • Proficiency in reading and writing in English.
  • Effective communication skills in English, both verbal and written.

Work Environment
This position involves both indoor and outdoor work. Employees may encounter various weather conditions and cleaning chemicals. The role requires operating power equipment, including floor machines and buffers. Schedules may vary, including early mornings, afternoons, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
