Job Summary

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform daily custodial tasks, including emptying and cleaning waste receptacles, washing windows, dusting furniture, and cleaning vents, fans, and walls.
  • Sanitize various facility areas, including restrooms, kitchen and food areas, and cafeterias.
  • Operate heavy custodial equipment, such as mopping machines, floor strippers, and buffers.
  • Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming.
  • Remove trash and recyclables, and transport materials to disposal areas.
  • Use chemicals and cleaners safely and productively, following established protocols and regulations.
  • Respond to emergency situations, such as spills, broken windows, and broken locks.
  • Requisition supplies and equipment needed for cleaning and maintenance duties.
  • Move heavy furniture, equipment, or supplies, either manually or using hand trucks.
  • Set up, arrange, or remove decorations, tables, chairs, ladders, or scaffolding for events.
Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent, supplemented by previous experience in custodial work or a related field.
  • The ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • A strong command of the English language, both spoken and written.
  • The ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with a focus on attention to detail and quality of work.
  • The ability to lift, carry, push, and pull moderately heavy objects and materials (up to 30 pounds).
Working Conditions

This position requires the ability to work in a variety of environments, including evenings and weekends, as needed. The incumbent must be willing to work in conditions of stress and function well under pressure.
