Job Summary

The Prairie View A&M University seeks a highly qualified Academic Leader to serve as Professor and Associate Dean for the College of Agriculture, Food & Natural Resources. This is a key leadership position that requires a strong academic background, excellent leadership and communication skills, and a proven track record of success in academic administration.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Administration
    • Provide strategic leadership and direction to the College, ensuring alignment with the University's mission and goals.
    • Oversee the administration of the College, including budget management, personnel supervision, and policy implementation.
    • Develop and implement plans to improve academic programs, student success, and faculty development.
  • Academic Affairs
    • Develop and implement policies and procedures for academic programs, including curriculum development, accreditation, and assessment.
    • Provide guidance and support to faculty members on academic matters, including promotion and tenure.
    • Collaborate with department heads and faculty members to develop and implement academic plans.
  • Student Affairs
    • Develop and implement plans to improve student recruitment, retention, and success.
    • Provide guidance and support to students on academic and personal matters.
    • Collaborate with student organizations and campus resources to enhance student life and engagement.
  • External Relations
    • Develop and implement plans to enhance the College's reputation and visibility, both locally and nationally.
    • Build and maintain relationships with alumni, donors, and other stakeholders.
    • Collaborate with University Advancement to secure funding and resources for the College.
Requirements
  • Education
    • Doctorate degree in an area represented in the College.
  • Experience
    • 8 years of relevant experience in academic administration, including leadership and management roles.
  • Skills and Abilities
    • Strong leadership and management skills, with experience in budget management, personnel supervision, and policy implementation.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with faculty, staff, students, and external stakeholders.
    • Ability to develop and implement strategic plans, with a focus on academic excellence and student success.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Research and Teaching Experience
    • Experience in research and teaching, with a strong record of publication and teaching excellence.
  • Leadership Experience
    • Experience in leadership roles, including department head, associate dean, or dean.
