Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Interventional Radiology Technologist to join our team at DMC Harper University/Hutzel Women's Hospital. As a key member of our radiology department, you will be responsible for performing diagnostic interventional exams, verifying patient identity, and reviewing medical records. Your expertise will be essential in ensuring the highest quality patient care and contributing to our hospital's mission of delivering exceptional healthcare services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct diagnostic interventional exams using various imaging equipment, ensuring accurate and high-quality images.
  • Verify patient identity and review medical records to ensure appropriateness of exams or procedures.
  • Interview patients to obtain medical history, assess risk factors, and explain procedures, including potential side effects and benefits.
  • Set up equipment, acquire images, and review results, making initial observations and documenting exceptions from established protocols.
  • Recognize and respond to medical emergencies, providing post-care instructions to patients as needed.
  • Participate in quality improvement activities, including reject-repeat analysis and patient satisfaction initiatives.
  • Provide imaging education to residents, student technologists, and new employees.
Requirements
  • Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Radiology (RT) or Vascular-Interventional Radiography (VI) or Cardiovascular-Interventional (CV).
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support - Healthcare Provider (BLS) training required within the orientation period.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification within 6 months of hire for adult settings or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification within 1 year of hire for cardiology settings.
  • One or more years of experience as a Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) in Radiology.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Strong analytical and clinical skills to determine the most appropriate method of providing radiographs.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interact with patients and hospital personnel.
  • Technical knowledge to operate specialized equipment and computers.
  • Ability to work productively and effectively in a complex environment, handling multiple priorities.
  • Knowledge of American College of Radiology requirements for accreditation.
  • Physical stamina for frequent walking, standing, lifting, and positioning of patients.
