Radiation Therapist

The Radiation Therapist will assist with the daily patient flow of the Radiation Oncology clinical location, evaluate and develop new processes for patient care, and assist with other activities to improve Radiation Oncology operations.
According to established procedures, the Radiation Therapist will assist physicians by treating patients with prescribed doses of ionizing radiation supplied and controlled through specialized radiation equipment.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of radiation therapy principles and be able to work effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with the daily patient flow of the Radiation Oncology clinical location
- Evaluate and develop new processes for patient care
- Assist with other activities to improve Radiation Oncology operations
- Treat patients with prescribed doses of ionizing radiation supplied and controlled through specialized radiation equipment
- Prepare treatment rooms, explain procedures to patients, position patients, and administer treatments
- Monitor patients during therapy sessions to ensure their comfort and observe changes in their condition
- Simulate patient treatment according to the treatment plan and deliver prescribed doses of ionizing radiation supplied and controlled through specialized radiation equipment
- Design and construct custom treatment devices for individual patients
- Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care appropriate to the ages of the patients served
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Must be enrolled in the final year of Southern Illinois University - Carbondale's Radiation Therapy program
