Job Overview

Position Summary: The Utilities Field Crew Leader is tasked with overseeing and directing maintenance and repair operations for water distribution and wastewater systems. This role is crucial in ensuring compliance with safety standards and adherence to departmental protocols.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead maintenance and repair teams, ensuring compliance with safety regulations
  • Manage work orders, materials, and equipment for designated projects
  • Conduct site inspections and offer technical support to team members
  • Provide training and mentorship to crew members on quality and safety standards
  • Document services performed and track material expenses
  • Operate heavy machinery in accordance with safety protocols
  • Address emergency maintenance requests as required

Required Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED is mandatory. A minimum of 3 years of experience in water and wastewater systems maintenance or 2 years in Water Distribution or Wastewater Collection is necessary.

Knowledge Requirements:

  • Understanding of public utility maintenance practices and regulations
  • Familiarity with water and wastewater regulations at local, state, and federal levels
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations regarding heavy equipment operation
  • Awareness of TCEQ and American Waste Water Associations standards

Physical Requirements: The role involves outdoor work, including weekends and holidays, and requires readiness to respond to after-hours emergencies. Proper safety equipment must be utilized as specified.

Licenses and Certifications:

  • Texas State Commercial Class A Driver's License is essential
  • Class C Water/Wastewater license from TCEQ or the ability to acquire it within a year
