About the RoleThe PRN Receptionist will be responsible for ensuring the communication and customer service operation of the hospital is provided timely and effectively at all times. This includes providing professional customer relations to a patient population of various ages, monitoring video, fire, and smoke detector equipment, and notifying the appropriate personnel in the event of an incident or emergency.

- Provide professional customer relations to a patient population of various ages.
- Monitor video, fire, and smoke detector equipment at the front desk and notify the appropriate personnel in the event of an incident or emergency.
- Act as answering service for directors and other staff according to written procedures.
- Answer questions and give information in person or over the telephone, based on knowledge of the hospital and regulations.
- Present a good first impression to persons entering the hospital.
- Interface with hospital management and staff internally, and with visitors and the general public externally.
- Knowledge of all disaster, fire, and internal emergency plans and procedures.
- Maintain confidentiality procedures for all patients, visitors, and vendors to the hospital.
- Demonstrate security procedures by screening and directing visitors, patients, and vendors as they enter the building.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Demonstrate the ability to screen and direct incoming calls as well as act as a message center.
- Demonstrate the hospital's customer services standard.
- Knowledge of the transportation options to and from the hospital; ability to give directions.
- Operate telephone to relay incoming, outgoing, interoffice, and message center calls.
- Facilitate the implementation of security procedures by screening and directing visitors and patients as they enter the building.
- Ensure the safety of patients, staff, and visitors in the event of an incident or emergency.
- Act as information clerk.
- Perform responsible clerical tasks under general supervision using knowledge of office procedures and hospital regulations.
- Contact Fire and Police Departments as dictated by policy.
- Make visitors feel comfortable and assure that they will receive immediate attention from the appropriate person.
- Sell meal tickets and account for funds.
- Maintain confidentiality procedures for vendors and visitors.
- Train other personnel in performing relief telephone functions.
- Receive and release interoffice delivery and Federal Express packages.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
