Job Overview

POSITION SUMMARY: The Subway Shift Leader plays a crucial role in overseeing daily operations in the absence of the Subway Manager. This position requires close collaboration with the Manager, Sandwich Artists, and patrons to ensure a seamless service experience.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Deliver prompt and courteous customer service.
  2. Maintain effective communication with all customers.
  3. Ensure adherence to product recipes and standards.
  4. Follow established procedures for the preparation and baking of bread.
  5. Prepare backup products using the appropriate equipment.
  6. Operate all machinery in compliance with manufacturer and Subway guidelines.
  7. Conduct accurate daily inventory counts using provided forms.
  8. Comply with all health and safety regulations regarding food handling.
  9. Practice proper hand hygiene.
  10. Utilize gloves correctly.
  11. Ensure food items are maintained within safe temperature ranges.
  12. Store food products according to type and safety standards.
  13. Label opened and prepared food items with appropriate dates and times.
  14. Regularly assess products to remove any expired items.
  15. Record and monitor product temperatures on designated logs at least once per shift.
  16. Implement corrective measures for any items in the temperature danger zone.
  17. Receive deliveries from approved suppliers and verify all items against invoices.
  18. Adhere to uniform standards.
  19. Manage and track all product inventory.
  20. Assemble customer orders as requested.
  21. Process monetary transactions accurately.
  22. Utilize the time clock for recording work hours.
  23. Complete shift-related paperwork.
  24. Maintain cleanliness by sweeping and mopping floors.
  25. Ensure restrooms are kept clean.
  26. Participate in store meetings.
  27. Dispose of trash in and around the store.
  28. Keep sidewalks and parking areas clean.
  29. Adjust food items as necessary.
  30. Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Subway Manager.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

The following duties are to be performed in the absence of or as directed by the Subway Manager:

  1. Ensure compliance with Trexcon policies and procedures.
  2. Communicate effectively with all team members.
  3. Adapt to changes and manage other tasks as needed, maintaining flexibility in daily operations.
  4. Support Trexcon's mission statement.
  5. Provide fast and friendly service to customers.
  6. Complete daily administrative tasks.
  7. Create work schedules for Sandwich Artists, ensuring total hours remain within budget.
  8. Organize training sessions for new hires.
  9. Check and respond to internal communications regularly.
  10. Reconcile time cards and payroll reports for Sandwich Artists and submit them as per policy.
  11. Order supplies from approved vendors.
  12. Establish communication with Home Office personnel for procedural assistance.
  13. Coordinate with the Maintenance Department for repairs.
  14. Maintain a clean and functional work environment.
  15. Attend management meetings as required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  1. Prolonged periods of standing are required.
  2. Physical ability to lift, carry, push, or pull objects over 10 lbs.
  3. Occasional bending, stooping, reaching, and climbing may be necessary.
  4. Some travel may be required.
