Culinary Director Job Summary

The Culinary Director will oversee the culinary operations, planning, and implementation of the food service department at The Mariner Marblehead. This role requires a high level of expertise and guidance to cultivate a dining experience that delights residents, reinforces nutritional values, and establishes a standard of culinary excellence.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Food Service Planning and Implementation: Plan, develop, organize, and implement the food service department, including hiring and training staff.
  • Compliance and Quality Assurance: Meet regularly with the Executive Director and care staff to ensure compliance with residents' diet requirements and maintain high standards of quality.
  • Staff Development and Training: Train staff and promote independent programs for staff training to ensure a well-equipped and knowledgeable team.
  • Inventory Management and Procurement: Order and purchase food, supplies, and equipment as needed, and maintain an orderly inventory.
  • Meal Delivery and Preparation: Ensure the delivery of meals to the dining room at appropriate times and assist in food preparation and cleaning duties.
  • Special Events and Budgeting: Plan and assist with special events, including private dinners, and assist in the preparation of the annual Food Service budget.
Qualifications:
  • Education and Certifications: High school diploma or GED and successful completion of a reputable course in food service management preferred. College degree in culinary arts/management is very desirable. Certificate/License as required by federal/state/local law or associated agencies.
  • Physical Abilities: Physically able to move at least 25 lbs. without assistance. May be required to lift, push, pull, and move equipment, supplies, etc.
  • Personality and Skills: Must have compassion for and desire to work with the elderly. Individual who aligns with our values of integrity, compassion, and respect. Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed.
