Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Direct Support Professional to join our team in Fairfax, VA. As a Direct Support Professional, you will provide everyday support to individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, helping them with daily living activities, mobility, and physical therapy exercises. You will also ensure proper diet and nutrition, assist with feeding, and follow individualized behavior support plans.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide everyday support to individuals with IDD, including assistance with daily living activities, mobility, and physical therapy exercises.
  • Ensure proper diet and nutrition, and assist with feeding if required.
  • Follow individualized behavior support plans to address specific needs and challenges.
  • Use positive reinforcement and behavioral techniques to manage and improve behavior.
  • Assist with the development and maintenance of life skills, such as cooking, cleaning, and budgeting.
  • Provide educational and recreational activities that promote personal growth and independence.
  • Ensure the cleanliness and organization of the group home environment.
  • Assist with household chores, such as cooking, laundry, and cleaning.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of individuals' progress, incidents, and any changes in their condition.
  • Advocate for the needs and preferences of individuals, ensuring their rights and choices are respected.
  • Provide emotional support and encouragement to foster a positive and supportive environment.
Requirements
  • Minimum of a High School Diploma or its equivalent.
  • Must have an active CPR/First Aid certification or have the ability to obtain.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
  • Effectively communicate with persons being serviced.
  • Perform basic computer skills.
  • Experience in a residential setting supporting persons with intellectual or developmental disabilities.
  • Experience working with people who are medically fragile and/or have physical limitations.
