Job Summary:

This position is responsible for delivering high-quality dental hygiene services to patients of all ages at the Oyate Health Center (OHC). The successful candidate will be responsible for performing prophylactic and preventive dental procedures, as well as advanced procedures for patients diagnosed with periodontal disease.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement preventive oral health programs for various patient groups, including pediatric, diabetic, cancer, psychiatric, geriatric, alcoholic, and physically handicapped patients.
  • Conduct preliminary evaluations on dental patients and review their medical and dental history to identify potential complications or alterations to treatment.
  • Expose, develop, and process radiographs, and perform prophylaxis and root planning and scaling (RPS) as needed.
  • Apply fluorides, sealants, and other preventive agents to promote oral health.
  • Maintain accurate patient records, including oral conditions, treatment progress, and any necessary follow-up care.
  • Provide instructions on basic dental care and post-operative care as directed by the supervising dentist.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care and health education to patients.

  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams to ensure seamless care and coordination.

Requirements:
  • Associate in Applied Science in Dental Hygiene and experience in the occupational field, sufficient to understand the major duties of the position.
  • Completion of radiation safety course.
  • Licensed as a Dental Hygienist by any US State or Territory.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • Ability to manage multiple demands of the job, prioritize tasks, and maintain a high level of productivity in a fast-paced environment.
Work Environment:

This position is typically performed in a clinic setting, requiring normal safety precautions for infection control and environmental safety measures. The noise level is usually moderate, and the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, talk, and hear. The employee must be able to lift and move light objects, and occasionally lift heavier objects.

Supervisory and Management Responsibility:

This is a non-supervisory position that may provide functional direction, guidance, and instruction to other employees.
