Job Summary:

Sunnyside Unified District is seeking a skilled School Psychologist to join our team. As a School Psychologist, you will play a critical role in supporting the academic and emotional well-being of our students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate referral, comprehensive evaluation, and placement process for qualified students.
  • Facilitate communication between school staff, parents, and outside agencies regarding the health and education needs of special needs students.
  • Participate in pre-referral meetings to generate accommodation plans for students experiencing difficulties.
  • Conduct child study meetings to determine evaluation needs.
  • Administer psychological, emotional, and intellectual portions of the comprehensive psycho-educational evaluation.
  • Write summative psycho-educational evaluation reports and provide input into diagnostic decisions and placement decisions for students who qualify for special education services.
  • Collaborate with other professionals and make recommendations relating to a student's goals and objectives.
  • Assist with preparation and maintenance of special education records.
  • Convey information from the school to parents regarding education and health concerns/needs.
  • Assist parents with accessing appropriate services in the community.
  • Supervise interns/practicum students studying to be school psychologists.

Requirements:

  • Master's degree in School Psychology, Child Development, or closely related field.
  • Experience with evaluation of school-age children required.
  • Standard School Psychologist PreK-12 Certificate from the Arizona Department of Education.
  • Nationally Certified School Psychologist.
  • Azizona Psychologist License.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Doctoral (PhD) degree in School Psychology, Child Development, or closely related field.
  • Supervises a minimum of 1, maximum of 2 School Psychologists; supervises a maximum of 4 Psychologist Interns.

Additional Information:

Depending on the needs of the District, some incumbents in this class must be able to demonstrate fluency in both Spanish and English as a condition of employment.
