Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse (RN) in our Neuro Trauma Med-Surg unit plays a vital role in providing exceptional care to patients with complex medical needs. As a member of our dedicated healthcare team, you will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care, utilizing the nursing process and evidence-based practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Patient Assessment: Conduct thorough assessments of patients with unique needs, including those with stroke, seizure, trauma, and vascular changes.
  • Care Planning: Collaborate with healthcare providers to develop individualized care plans, utilizing the nursing process and technology.
  • Implementation of Care: Utilize therapeutic interventions, technology, and evidence-based practices to provide high-quality patient care.
  • Documentation: Accurately document patient information using Epic, ensuring timely and effective communication with the healthcare team.
  • Continuing Education: Participate in regular educational opportunities with surgeons and neurologists to enhance knowledge and skills.

Requirements:

  • ASN from an accredited program; BSN within 4 years.
  • Current Colorado RN license.
  • Current BLS certification endorsed by the American Heart Association.
  • One year of nursing experience in a comparable setting, preferred.

Education:

Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing is required. A Registered Nurse with an ASN/ADN degree must complete a BSN degree within four (4) years from the Registered Nurse's date of hire unless the Registered Nurse has a minimum of fifteen (15) years of proven continuous Registered Nurse experience in an acute care setting.

Certification:

Current license as a Registered Nurse in the state of practice is required. Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS-HCP) certification upon hire or obtained within 60 days of hire with prior approval.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to see and read patient information and labels, operate monitors, and assess patient needs.
  • Strong communication skills for interacting with patients and healthcare providers, particularly in emergency situations.
  • Manual dexterity for handling delicate equipment and frequent computer use for documentation.
  • Capacity to lift and move patients and equipment, with the ability to navigate busy environments and stand for extended periods.
