Overview:
The Structural Project Manager plays a crucial role in overseeing and managing projects through all stages of design and construction. This position involves a variety of technical responsibilities, including the design and analysis of structural systems, effective communication of designs through detailed drawings, and the administration of construction processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee structural projects to ensure timely delivery, adherence to budget constraints, and maintenance of high technical standards; exhibit a commitment to enhancing both technical and project management expertise.
- Assist in the creation of drawings utilizing drafting and modeling software while collaborating with drafters and designers.
- Develop innovative solutions; convert concepts into visual representations; incorporate feedback to refine designs and uphold meticulous attention to detail, ensuring consistency and quality.
- Prepare detailed construction cost estimates and specifications.
- Generate monthly progress reports, forecasts, and pre-billing documentation for invoicing purposes.
- Engage in the production and/or review of construction documents, including but not limited to drawings, submittals, geotechnical reports, and proposals, ensuring accuracy and compliance with design standards.
- Participate in design coordination meetings with team members and client representatives.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with internal team members and external consultants, engineers, architects, contractors, clients, and owners.
- Assist with field measurements, data collection, field reports, and site inspections.
- Conduct follow-ups on field observation reports and visit construction sites as necessary.
- Collaborate with Marketing and Business Development in responding to RFQs, including preparation for interviews, resumes, and presentations.
- Support the training, mentoring, and development of junior team members.
- Engage in peer review processes.
- Actively participate in professional organizations to enhance the firm's technical reputation and visibility.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering required
- Master's degree preferred
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) or Structural Engineer (S.E.) required
- A minimum of 8 years of direct experience in structural engineering
- Familiarity with software such as RISA, RAM, Bluebeam, Revit, AutoCAD is advantageous
- Experience in designing structural steel, wood, masonry, light gauge metal framing, and/or reinforced concrete structures
