College of the Desert is seeking a skilled Piano Accompanist to provide musical support for vocal and instrumental groups, soloists, and ensembles. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in piano performance and accompaniment techniques, with the ability to sight-read music from various styles and periods.
Key Responsibilities- Accompany vocal and instrumental groups and soloists during classes and rehearsals
- Accompany musical groups and soloists at special events at the College
- Accompany soloists and choral groups at day and evening performances away from the College
- Accompany private lessons as needed
- Reinforce music instruction during rehearsals as directed by the instructor
- Graduation from high school and two years of experience accompanying choral groups, soloist/class performances, and/or dance classes required
- Formal study of the piano at the college level may be substituted for the required experience on a year-for-year basis
- Knowledge of piano performance and accompanist techniques
- Knowledge of principles and practices of sight reading
- Ability to understand and carry out oral and written directions
- Ability to meet schedules and time lines
- Ability to communicate effectively with students and faculty
The primary location is Palm Desert Campus. The schedule and location are subject to change based on District need.
