JOB OBJECTIVE:


To assess and support students eligible for speech and language services under IDEA, ensuring each student under their care receives a tailored program that facilitates optimal development in speech and language skills.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Conduct screenings to identify children with speech and language challenges.

Assist educators in monitoring speech and language abilities, implementing effective strategies, and referring students suspected of having communication disorders.

Engage in special education screening meetings to evaluate the necessity of assessments.

Deliver comprehensive evaluations of articulation, voice, fluency, and language skills, either as an independent assessment or as part of a collaborative special education team.

Analyze speech and language evaluation outcomes for team members and parents, determining diagnosis and eligibility for services based on state criteria.

Develop individualized educational plans (IEPs) for students with speech and language disorders, incorporating parental feedback during IEP meetings.
Provide tailored therapy to address the specific needs of students with communication disorders.
Create home programs to encourage parental involvement in the remediation process.
Adhere to state-mandated case management duties for speech and language cases.

Additional Responsibilities:

Communicate with parents, organize and conduct all IEP and parent meetings, inform parents of their rights, and complete state-required documentation for initial or transfer placements, triennial evaluations, and dismissals.

Maintain accurate therapy records to track student progress.
Compile and submit caseload data to the Director of Special Education for district and state reporting.
Provide quarterly updates to parents regarding their child's speech and language development.

Collaborate with and serve as a resource for school staff in the areas of speech and language growth, classroom strategies, and available services.

Order and manage necessary therapy equipment, supplies, and materials.
Conduct hearing screenings as part of the district's annual developmental readiness program.
Perform other duties as assigned by the school administration.

EMPLOYMENT TERMS:
7 hours/day; 188 days/school year

Exempt
