Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Certified Medical Assistant to join our team at Sterling Medical. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and support services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Patient Assessment and Care: Assess patients' needs for medical care, plan interventions, and evaluate the effectiveness of care.
  • Medication Administration: Administer oxygen, subcutaneous, and intra-muscular medication as prescribed by medical staff.
  • Preparation and Monitoring: Prepare patients for surgical and diagnostic procedures, and monitor specialized equipment such as cardiac monitors and defibrillators.
  • Inventory Management: Manage medicine and drug stocks to ensure adequate supplies and maintain inventory control.
  • Emergency Response: Provide immediate evaluation and management of emergent problems, in addition to regular scheduled appointments.
  • Front Desk Operations: Greet and receive patients, discreetly ascertain the nature of their illness or condition, and direct them to appropriate care.
  • Communication and Record-Keeping: Respond to routine non-medical information requests, receive and screen phone calls, file and maintain healthcare records, and input daily patient information into the Coast Guard Healthcare Information Systems.
  • Administrative Support: Use Microsoft applications to track data, generate reports, and prepare presentations, review and route incoming correspondence, schedule and track consultations for specialty care, and maintain referral logs.
Requirements
  • Certification and Experience: CMA certification or diploma, minimum of 1 year experience working as a CMA during the past 36 months, and BLS certification.
  • Productivity and Performance: Meet productivity expectations comparable to other medical department staff assigned to the same facility with the same scope of duties.
