POSITION OVERVIEW
Under the guidance of the Group Health Center Manager and in collaboration with the Medical Director, the Senior Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) performs essential nursing functions in accordance with state regulations.
This role encompasses increased autonomy, defines a leadership position for clinical staff, and enhances daily responsibilities and site management while working closely with medical providers and the Group Health Center Manager.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Evaluate and assess the nursing care delivered by clinical staff, ensuring adherence to policies and processes, completeness of documentation, and identifying areas for improvement while communicating issues to the Group Health Center Manager.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of rules, regulations, and Premise Health policies, effectively communicating these to team members as needed.
- Engage in necessary conferences and meetings, participating in relevant in-service education to enhance job performance as directed by the Group Health Center Manager.
- Develop orientation materials and clinical training checklists for new hires, addressing any identified retraining needs and working closely with individuals to provide orientation, retraining, coaching, and education.
- Contribute to the establishment and achievement of operational standards by providing input for strategic plans and reviews, implementing quality and client-service standards, resolving issues, and identifying system improvements.
- Assist in maintaining or drafting site-specific policies and procedures in collaboration with the Group Health Center Manager and medical providers to ensure team members have current information and guidance.
- Ensure quality of care by interpreting and applying Premise Health philosophies and standards, making or recommending necessary adjustments.
- Uphold a safe and clean working environment by ensuring clinical staff adhere to cleaning protocols, complete quality controls, and update safety data sheets and equipment manuals.
- Provide individualized education or performance counseling to clinical staff under the direction of the Group Health Center Manager.
- Act as an EMR site super-user to assist staff with data entry issues and enhance workflows as clinical staff develop their knowledge of electronic data entry and tracking.
- Guarantee the functionality of medical and administrative equipment by verifying the availability of emergency equipment, completing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting malfunctions, and maintaining equipment inventories.
- Manage clinic supplies inventory by analyzing usage trends, anticipating needs, and collaborating with the Group Health Center Manager on requisitions and cost allocations.
- Foster a cooperative team environment by effectively communicating information, responding to requests, building rapport, and leading team problem-solving initiatives.
- Take ownership of achieving organizational goals by embracing new and diverse requests and exploring opportunities to enhance job accomplishments.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
- Graduate of a National League for Nursing accredited program, with an Associate's degree (A.S.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school.
- Licensed as a Practical Nurse in the state of practice.
- Current certification in Basic Life Support.
Experience:
- A minimum of five years of clinical experience as an LPN in primary/ambulatory care, occupational health, or emergency department settings.
- Previous leadership or supervisory experience is preferred.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Familiarity with workplace health and safety concepts and OSHA regulations.
- Proficient computer skills (Internet software, spreadsheets, word processing, etc.).
- Experience with Electronic Medical Record systems is required.
- Understanding of Premise Health medical procedures and practices.
- Ability to demonstrate leadership through sound nursing practices and education.
- Capacity to comprehend oral and written instructions from the RN Group Health Center Manager and Medical Director.
- Awareness of the necessity to collaborate on all nursing care decisions with the RN Group Health Center Manager and/or Medical Director.
