We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Assistant to join our team at Golisano Children's Hospital of Southwest Florida. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our healthcare team.
Key Responsibilities- Provide excellent customer service and ensure a positive patient experience
- Assist in all aspects of medical practice under the supervision of a physician or physician assistant
- Perform phlebotomy, point of care testing, and assist in minor procedures
- Process lab specimens, operate medical equipment, and provide patient instructions
- Handle and administer medications according to regulatory standards and organizational policy
- Collect, communicate, and document accurate patient information/data
- Maintain medical records according to regulatory standards and organizational policies
- Coordinate requests for information and prescriptions
- Prepare patient care areas to ensure efficient, effective, and safe patient care delivery
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Completion of a medical assisting program or postsecondary medical assisting program accredited to prepare the medical assistant to take national CMA, CCMA, or RMA medical assistant certification exam preferred
- 1 year of Medical Assistant experience in a physicians office or hospital outpatient department may be accepted in lieu of degree/diploma from accredited medical assisting program
- CMA, CCMA, or RMA certification preferred
- BLS certification required (must be obtained within first 90 days of hire)
