Job Title: Senior Technical Animator

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Technical Animator to join our team at Velan Studios. As a key member of our Tech Art team, you will be responsible for creating high-quality animation rigs for multiple projects, collaborating with both artists and engineers to achieve exceptional results.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create complex Maya animation rigs for various asset types, including characters, props, and mechanical objects.
  • Extend, maintain, and document existing art tools and pipelines to ensure seamless collaboration and efficiency.
  • Participate in art tools code reviews and design planning to drive innovation and improvement.
  • Mentor junior Tech Animators and contribute to the development of proprietary tools and workflows.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify production bottlenecks and implement solutions to optimize workflows.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in the game industry, with a strong background in Maya, rigging, and skinning deformations.
  • Advanced knowledge of Python, Qt, and the Maya API, with experience in setting up physics-driven animation systems in game engines.
  • Experience working in Unreal, Unity, or other AAA engines, with a solid understanding of linear algebra and visual scripting.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with artists and engineers.

Bonus Skills:

  • C/C++ knowledge and experience developing plugins for Maya.
  • Experience with visual scripting, such as Blueprints in Unreal Engine.
