The Financial Operations Manager will also mentor and develop the finance staff, promoting a culture of ongoing enhancement.Core Responsibilities:
Team Leadership & Management:
Lead, mentor, and oversee the finance team, encompassing accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger personnel.
Establish performance objectives, provide guidance, and conduct regular performance evaluations.
Financial Reporting & Assessment:
Prepare and supervise the creation of precise and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
Perform financial assessments to support business decisions, including variance analysis, trend analysis, and forecasting.
Review and authorize journal entries, account reconciliations, and reports generated by the finance team.
Month-End and Year-End Closing:
Oversee the month-end and year-end closing procedures to ensure accuracy and compliance with deadlines.
Review and post complex journal entries, accruals, and adjustments as necessary.
Supervise the reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts and ensure discrepancies are identified and resolved.
Budgeting & Forecasting:
Collaborate with senior management to formulate the annual budget and periodic forecasts.
Monitor actual performance against the budget and provide recommendations for cost management and financial enhancements.
Internal Controls & Compliance:
Develop, implement, and maintain robust internal controls to protect company assets and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
Ensure all financial activities are in accordance with GAAP, internal policies, and SOX compliance (if applicable).
Audit & Tax Compliance:
Lead preparations for internal and external audits, including compiling necessary documentation and responding to auditor inquiries.
Collaborate with external tax advisors to ensure accurate tax filings and compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations.
Ensure timely preparation of sales tax, property tax, and other regulatory filings.
Process Enhancement:
Continuously assess and enhance financial processes and systems to improve efficiency and accuracy.
Lead or participate in financial system implementations, upgrades, and enhancements.
Streamline financial operations and automate routine tasks to reduce manual effort and improve reporting accuracy.
Cash Flow Oversight:
Monitor and manage cash flow, working capital, and liquidity, ensuring sufficient funds for operations.
Collaborate with treasury and finance teams to optimize cash management strategies.
Fixed Asset Oversight:
Supervise the tracking, depreciation, and reconciliation of fixed assets.
Ensure capital expenditures are recorded in compliance with company policies.
Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (required).
CPA or CMA certification (strongly preferred).
Experience:
5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role.
Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and budgeting processes.
Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite) and advanced accounting software.
