Nurse Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse to join our team at Lone Star Oncology in Georgetown, TX. As an RN Infusion nurse, you will play a critical role in providing exceptional patient care and ensuring the safe and accurate administration of chemotherapeutic agents.
Key Responsibilities:
• Safely and accurately mix and administer chemotherapeutic agents to patients as ordered by physicians, adhering to ONS standards and guidelines.
• Accurately and safely dispose of biohazardous waste, following OSHA and HRS guidelines.
• Conduct ongoing patient assessments to identify and address potential issues.
• Maintain thorough and accurate documentation in OncoEMR of treatment rendered to patients, ensuring appropriate charges are captured in accordance with guidelines.
• Educate patients and, when appropriate, family members about medications, side effects, and planned treatment courses, interacting with them in a caring and professional manner.
• Participate in chemotherapy classes as needed, acting as a moderator/instructor and providing education to patients and family members.
• Respond to incoming calls and messages from patients, family members, hospitals, nursing facilities, pharmacies, and physician offices in a timely and appropriate manner, prioritizing emergent to non-urgent calls.
• Assist with inventory and re-stocking medical supplies, recommending purchases as needed and placing stock in storage areas in a timely manner.
• Have working knowledge of dispensing medications via Nucleus, perform cycle counts, and restock medications within the appropriate time frame, entering all necessary patient charges into Nucleus.
• Attend annual Safety/OSHA training meetings, mandatory staff meetings, and maintain confidentiality of patient and employee information at all times.
• Assist in training new employees to related job duties and work at any Company location to meet business needs.
Requirements:
• Registered Nurse, licensed in the State of employment, with experience in IV therapy.
• Experience working with hematology/oncology patients in a clinic or hospital setting is required.
• Strong critical thinking skills and ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations are essential.
• Current CPR & BLS certifications are required, and fluency in the English language with excellent oral and written communication skills is necessary.
