Position Overview

Abacus Technology is in search of a Lead Avionics Systems Engineer to deliver expert technical assistance. This role is integral to our operations, focusing on enhancing avionics systems and ensuring compliance with stringent standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive support for Aircraft Information Management Systems (AIMS), including requirements gathering, testing, and certification processes.
  • Utilize knowledge of Communications, Navigation, Surveillance/Air Traffic Management (CNS/ATM) to establish requirements and facilitate compliance assessments.
  • Assist in the development and refinement of avionics engineering documentation, ensuring alignment with current regulations and standards.
  • Conduct thorough analyses of avionics systems, identifying potential enhancements and addressing system vulnerabilities.
  • Participate in technical reviews, offering insights and recommendations for the integration of new hardware and software solutions.
  • Support evaluations of performance metrics, cost-effectiveness, and lifecycle considerations for avionics systems.
  • Review and contribute to system-specific test plans, engaging in both system and component testing.
  • Analyze Built-in Test (BIT) failure reports, ensuring accurate comparisons and assessments.
  • Examine technical documentation for compliance with specifications and airworthiness, summarizing findings and suggesting necessary modifications.
  • Engage in technical interchange meetings to discuss advancements in controls, displays, and data communication protocols.
  • Collaborate with the avionics team to define requirements for future system upgrades and enhancements.
Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A minimum of 15 years of experience in avionics engineering, with at least 5 years in a Department of Defense (DoD) environment.
  • A Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline.
  • Expertise in avionics systems, demonstrating advanced knowledge and the ability to guide junior personnel.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, and web-based applications.
  • A strong understanding of avionics subsystem development, integration, and verification methods.
  • Familiarity with CNS/ATM regulations and standards, as well as data communication protocols.
