Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Juvenile Detention Counselor 3 to join our team at the Milledgeville YDC in Georgia. As a key member of our staff, you will play a crucial role in providing social services to youth and ensuring their safety and well-being.

About the Role

The ideal candidate will have a Master's degree in a related field and two years of experience in mental health/substance abuse treatment settings/juvenile justice/residential settings. They will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with youth, families, and other stakeholders.

Responsibilities
  • Provide counseling services to individuals, groups, or families, to effect positive change in the youth's behavior and/or social situations.
  • Conduct intake services, assess in-depth information about clients' situations and functioning, and determine appropriate services.
  • Lead or participate as a member of a multidisciplinary team to identify youths' strengths, resources, symptoms, and behavioral challenges.
  • Prepare and submit required reports and documentation.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university, OR Master's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university AND two (2) years of related experience.
  • Professional and/or general counseling experience in a mental health/substance abuse treatment/juvenile justice/residential setting.
  • Knowledge and experience of risk reduction principles and assessments with the juvenile or adult population.
