Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Project Executive to join our team at Thornton Construction Company. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for leading and managing multiple projects and/or assigned sectors from beginning to end, ensuring successful project delivery and exceeding client expectations.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Project Leadership: Lead, manage, and coordinate all phases of multiple projects and/or assigned sectors, including preconstruction, budget, costs, schedule, risk management, insurance, general work performance, and quality.
  2. Team Management: Build diverse, high-performing teams through coaching, training, and development opportunities, and lead by example by establishing a strong work ethic and setting clear expectations.
  3. Business Development: Support business development activities by maintaining long-lasting relationships with clients, the design community, engineers, and other organizations to enhance future business development opportunities.
  4. Preconstruction: Oversee the preconstruction phase and ensure project teams execute work safely and profitably, and participate in helping to acquire and define projects and develop budgets that achieve profitability objectives.
  5. Project Management: Set appropriate milestones, assign staff qualified to handle project scope and complexity, and provide oversight in managing all necessary resources throughout the project.
  6. Financial Management: Ensure thorough Cost to Complete forecasts are produced and submitted on time, track costs of field directives and backcharges for forecasting purposes, and manage cash flow to maintain a fiscally responsible position for the company.
  7. Closeout: Establish an effective Closeout Plan early in the project, ensure compliance with closeout requirements, and collect, review, and package Contract closeout documents.
  8. Meeting Management: Establish a meeting regimen for the Project Team, provide agendas, and stick to scheduled time limits to ensure effective communication and problem-solving.
  9. Risk Management: Develop strategies to monitor risk management and protect company assets, take immediate action when a non-performing Subcontractor is likely to cause negative impact to the Project, and ensure the safe execution of jobs to achieve zero accidents.
  10. Owner Relationship: Work to establish a trusting and professional relationship with the Owner, keep them well-informed of important matters to prevent surprises, and secure a strong letter of recommendation from the Owner for Thornton.
Requirements
  1. Education: Bachelor's degree in Construction, Engineering, or applicable discipline, plus a minimum of 10 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience.
  2. Experience: Onsite project management experience, budgeting and forecasting experience in a job cost environment, and proficiency with computer applications, including scheduling and construction software and Microsoft Office suite.
  3. Skills: Proven leadership skills, with a strong focus on mentoring and motivating, demonstrated ability to manage key relationships, including clients, business partners, government agencies, and subcontractors, and sound understanding of risk management.
