Job Summary

Yale New Haven Health is seeking a highly skilled Paramedic to join our team. As a Paramedic, you will provide emergency care and treatment to patients in the field, under the authority of a medical control physician and/or advanced life support protocols.

Key Responsibilities
  • Respond to emergency calls in a safe and timely manner.
  • Perform required assessment and treatment procedures according to established protocols.
  • Organize and prioritize work for the medical treatment team at emergency scenes, leading other EMS responders in a respectful manner.
  • Prepare a written record documenting times, patient condition, treatment, and any additional pertinent information, including all billing information.
  • Transfer patients to emergency department staff by way of oral report.
  • Adhere to all safety procedures in the handling of hazardous materials and blood-borne pathogens.
  • Assist with patient care and lifting/moving of patients in the emergency department as needed.
  • Responsible for scheduling volunteers to assist with efficient operations of daily duties.
  • Meet performance expectations for customer service, teamwork, resource utilization, and staff and self-development as outlined in performance review.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or directed to ensure smooth operation of the department/unit.
Qualifications
  • High school graduate or equivalent and completion of DOT paramedic training program.
  • Position requires experience in pre-hospital care involving at least six (6) months as an active paramedic and at least two (2) years as a basic EMT or equivalent experience.
  • State of CT paramedic license required, EMS certification/licensure at paramedic level in RI is preferred at hire or must be obtained in the first 6 months of employment.
  • Valid driver's license, and acceptable driving record required.
  • Must maintain certification in ACLS, PALS, and BLS; must have been trained in hazardous materials at the awareness level.
