Key ResponsibilitiesThe Home Health Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA, LPTA) is responsible for:
- Implementing treatment plans and providing exercise instruction to enhance patient well-being.
- Adhering to state-specific regulations governing physical therapy practices in home care.
- Performing only those procedures for which you are qualified and trained.
- Making recommendations for adjustments to the treatment plan to the supervising Physical Therapist.
Additionally, you will:
- Guide patients in both active and passive exercises, muscle re-education, gait training, and safety protocols.
- Monitor, document, and communicate patient responses to treatment and any changes in their condition to the supervising PT, nurse supervisor, or physician.
- Collaborate with other healthcare team members to coordinate patient care effectively.
- Educate patients, families, caregivers, and other healthcare team members regarding therapy practices within the scope of a physical therapy assistant.
To be considered for this role, candidates must possess:
- A current license, registration, or certification to assist in the practice of physical therapy in the state of practice.
- A valid CPR certification.
- A current driver's license, vehicle insurance, and reliable access to transportation.
