Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Part-Time Nurse to join our team at the Oklahoma County Juvenile Detention Center. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide high-quality nursing care to our residents, ensuring their physical and emotional well-being.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide professional nursing services, including administering medications, performing medical procedures, and maintaining accurate medical records.
  • Coordinate healthcare services, including scheduling appointments, ordering medical supplies, and communicating with healthcare providers.
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans to meet the unique needs of each resident.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including physicians, therapists, and social workers, to ensure comprehensive care.
  • Conduct training sessions for detention staff and residents on health-related topics, such as personal hygiene and health education.
  • Administer first aid and other medical care as needed, within the scope of your qualifications.
  • Maintain a consistent schedule to meet the needs of the facility and ensure continuity of care.
Requirements
  • Current RN or LPN license in the state of Oklahoma.
  • One year of experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in a juvenile detention center or similar environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with residents, staff, and healthcare providers.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing or related field.
  • Experience working with adolescents and young adults in a healthcare setting.
  • Knowledge of child development, sexually transmitted diseases, and other health-related topics relevant to juvenile detention centers.
Working Conditions

This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with frequent interruptions. You must be able to lift up to 25 pounds, push/pull with at least 20 pounds of force, and stand for long periods. The noise level is usually calm to very quiet, but can be high in secure detention areas.
