POC Specialist

Quest Diagnostics Incorporated is seeking a highly skilled POC Specialist to join our team. As a POC Specialist, you will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and reliability of all laboratory testing provided by Point of Care staff within the Hospital system.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop and maintain policies, procedures, and training documents for POC testing personnel.
- Plan and schedule POC activities for hospitals as needed.
- Ensure regulatory compliance by overseeing Quality Control and Proficiency Testing.
- Maintain metrics for POC testing and provide reports to the Quality Assurance Supervisor.
- Provide daily, weekly, and monthly reports to nurse managers, directors, and hospital administrators on POC compliance.
- Resolve technical issues with equipment and reagents in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Administer Quality Assurance programs, evaluate and report findings, and issue corrective action responses.
- Ensure remedial actions are taken when test systems deviate from established performance specifications.
- Enforce hospital policy and remove POCT access when a tester has violated policy.
- Develop training and orientation programs for POC testing staff and lab staff on POCT procedures and database monitoring.
- Maintain and oversee the POCT laboratory central processing station to ensure timely reporting of testing, Quality Control, billing, and regulatory compliance.
- Establish necessary budgetary controls and maintain costs at an acceptable level.
- Prepare reports detailing departmental activities, revenues, expenses, etc. as needed.
- At least five (5) years of work experience in the core laboratory.
- Two to three years of point of care experience preferred.
- Basic theoretical and operational knowledge of laboratory technologies and POC testing required.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs and POC software.
- Working knowledge of computer hardware, interfaces, and peripherals.
- Knowledge of organizational/departmental policies and procedures.
- Basic knowledge of HIS and LIS computer operations and interfaces.
- Bachelor's Degree (Preferred).
- MT (ASCP) certification preferred.
