About the Role

Familia Dental is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Dental Assistant to join our team. As a key member of our clinical team, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our dentists in delivering high-quality dental services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Welcome and escort patients in a professional and friendly manner from the reception area to and from the treatment areas.
  • Ensure treatment rooms are equipped and stocked with inventory and reorder when necessary.
  • Take and record patients' medical and dental histories and vital signs, blood pressure, and pulse.
  • Document and chart all dental procedures performed during each patient visit, as instructed by the dentist and in accordance with legal requirements.
  • Take and develop dental diagnostic x-rays.
  • Pour and base diagnostic models and fabricate temporary restorations, as allowed by state law.
  • Sterilize and disinfect instruments, set up instrument trays, prepare materials, and assist the dentist during dental procedures.
  • Effectively provide dental education and information to patients to ensure patient awareness of dental health and oral hygiene strategies.
  • Notify the Office Manager of equipment trouble or general safety concerns.
  • Attend and participate in morning huddles, chart reviews, and regular office meetings.
  • Recognize and be sensitive to patients' emotions.
  • Understand and follow company policies and procedures.
  • Understand and follow state and federal laws related to a dental office.
  • Other tasks as assigned.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Exceptional customer/patient service skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and listening skills.
  • Basic computer knowledge and experience with dental management software, with Denticon experience preferred.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, patient-focused environment.
  • Detail-oriented.
  • Able to carry out written and verbal instructions.
  • Organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
  • Meet state requirements for DA duties, continuing education, or license; Basic Life Support (BLS), cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certificate, and radiography certificate.
  • Dental assisting experience is preferred, but not required.
  • Experience working within healthcare or a related field is strongly preferred.

Availability and Schedule

Office hours: Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 7 PM, and Saturday, 9 AM to 4 PM.

Full-time employment: 30-40 hours per week (4+ days a week), available to work Saturdays as needed, and full shifts (8-10 hours).
