Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Care/Medication Technician to join our team at Greenwood Place. As a Care/Medication Technician, you will provide hands-on care and support to residents, maintaining a safe and comfortable environment. Your responsibilities will include:

Key Responsibilities:
  • Providing physical and emotional support to residents, including assistance with daily living activities.
  • Observing and reporting changes in resident condition, including skin, behavior, and dietary needs.
  • Responding to security system and resident call bells promptly.
  • Notifying supervisors and Health Care Coordinators of resident care needs.
  • Assisting with continence management and maintaining cleanliness of resident suites and community restrooms.
  • Serving and collecting food trays, and reporting meal refusals or loss of appetite.
  • Maintaining cleanliness of resident rooms and work areas.
  • Practicing good standard care precautions, including cleanliness, hygiene, and health.
  • Helping residents maintain independence and promoting dignity and physical safety.
  • Assisting with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, toileting, grooming, ambulation, transferring, and eating.
  • Engaging residents in life skills and other life enrichment activities.
  • Greeting and assisting internal and external customers, guests, family members, residents, vendors, and team members.
  • Performing resident laundry as assigned and needed.
Medication Technician Duties:
  • Reviewing service plans to learn pertinent information about residents.
  • Assisting and observing medications and treatments for each resident, using the medication observation record and the Six Rights of Medication Pass.
  • Documenting and initialing forms as medications are given, including documentation for refusal or missed doses.
  • Maintaining confidentiality of all resident information, including resident medication.
  • Reporting resident concerns made while assisting with medication to the Nurse and/or Health Care Coordinator.
  • Restocking medication carts after all medication passes.
  • Assisting in checking medication, regardless of packaging system.
  • Counting all narcotics with another Medication Care Manager or Nurse each shift.
  • Maintaining and cleaning the Medication Room, med charts, treatment carts for neatness, cleanliness, availability of medications, and expired medications.
  • Following the re-fill process for medications.
  • Participating in the development of the Service Plan and monthly updates.
  • Taking and recording temperature, blood pressure, weight, pulse, and respiration rates.
  • Reporting occupational exposures to blood, body fluids, infectious materials, sharp sticks, and hazardous chemicals immediately.
  • Performing other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
Qualifications:
  • Certified Nurse's Aid certification preferred.
  • High School diploma/GED.
  • Must be 18 years of age.
  • CPR Certification preferred.
  • First Aid Certification preferred.
  • Previous experience working with seniors preferred.
