Position Overview:

The Market Cardiologist (MC) is a Licensed/Board Certified expert who plays a pivotal role within our clinical operations team. This position primarily involves providing direct patient care and conducting assessments in an ambulatory healthcare setting. The MC is responsible for diagnosing and managing various cardiovascular conditions, including heart attacks and coronary heart disease. Key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting thorough medical histories and physical examinations.
  • Developing comprehensive care plans tailored to individual patient needs.
  • Delivering health education and facilitating specialty referrals.
  • Ensuring meticulous documentation of patient interactions and care plans.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Deliver exceptional inpatient and outpatient cardiovascular care, including care coordination and echocardiogram interpretation.
  • Lead a multidisciplinary cardiovascular care team, which may include Care Promoters and Echocardiogram/X-ray Technicians.
  • Assist in managing daily clinical operations and foster positive relationships with healthcare providers and stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with the Medical Director to ensure adherence to clinical guidelines and participate in quality management initiatives.

Direct Patient Care Duties:

  • Manage chronic cardiovascular diseases for a patient panel of approximately 3,500 to 4,000, with support from the Care Team.
  • Evaluate patients for surgical readiness and collaborate with surgical teams as necessary.
  • Perform and interpret diagnostic tests, including EKGs and chest X-rays.
  • Prescribe appropriate medications and treatment plans based on clinical assessments.
  • Provide patient education on heart health, wellness, and disease prevention.

Leadership and Administrative Functions:

  • Mentor and guide primary care physicians in effective cardiology management.
  • Participate in clinical team meetings and contribute to performance improvement initiatives.
  • Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders to enhance clinical services.

Qualifications:

  • Board certification in Cardiology is required; certification in internal medicine is a plus.
  • Current medical license and DEA registration are mandatory.
  • BLS certification is required; ACLS certification is strongly preferred.
  • Proven experience in supervising clinical staff and providing care in diverse settings.
