Urology Technician

Employment Type: Full Time, 1.0, 80.00 hours per pay period (2 weeks)
Work Schedule: Day Shift
Compensation: $27.13 per hour, contingent upon relevant experience
Position Summary: The Urology Technician is responsible for delivering care to patients with urologic conditions under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or healthcare provider, and assists in minor medical procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collects patient medical history and vital signs.
- Explains medical procedures, documents patient care, and communicates findings to the RN and Physician.
- Assists in urologic imaging and ultrasound examinations, as well as cystoscopic procedures.
- Conducts urodynamic studies with the Provider present.
- Supports minor surgical interventions and performs urinary catheter insertions and removals.
- Handles laboratory tasks and assists with basic dressing changes.
- Facilitates prescription refill requests to the Physician and communicates with pharmacies.
- Executes delegated clinical tasks as per written provider orders.
- Collects or prepares specimens for testing.
- Administers medications and injections in accordance with practice-specific guidelines.
- Transports patients and ensures cleanliness and organization of clinical spaces.
Within the scope of this role, the Urology Technician must demonstrate critical thinking abilities, sound judgment, and the capacity to operate with minimal supervision. The position requires adaptability to a fast-paced environment and the ability to take appropriate actions as needed.
Qualifications:
- Education: Completion of a Medical Assistant program from an accredited institution or equivalent training in a medical program, such as military corpsman or medic training.
- Licensure/Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider certification. Relevant certification as determined by position level.
- Experience: Minimum of 1 year in a healthcare-related role.
- BLS Certification: Must possess a valid BLS or CPR card from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross prior to the start date, with a validity of at least sixty days post-hire.
