Job Overview

Magnet Medical is seeking a skilled travel nurse to join their team as an Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN) in Lynchburg, Virginia.

Compensation Package

The estimated salary for this role is $120,000 per year, paid bi-weekly with tax-free stipend. This compensation package is based on 8 hour shifts and 40 hours per week.

Job Description

As an Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN), you will play a crucial role in the surgical team, providing direct patient care before, during, and after surgical procedures. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assessing patients' medical histories and current conditions to develop individualized preoperative care plans
  • Verifying surgical consent, reviewing medications, and preparing patients physically and emotionally for surgery
  • Collaborating with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure safe and effective surgical outcomes

You will work closely with the surgical team to position patients, monitor vital signs, and assist with anesthesia induction and maintenance. You will also be responsible for maintaining sterile technique and adhering to aseptic practices throughout the surgical process.

Key Responsibilities

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Preoperative Preparation: Assess patients' medical histories and current conditions to develop individualized preoperative care plans; verify surgical consent, review medications, and prepare patients physically and emotionally for surgery
  • Intraoperative Nursing Care: Collaborate with surgical team members to position patients, monitor vital signs, and assist with anesthesia induction and maintenance
  • Surgical Assistance and Instrumentation: Anticipate surgeons' needs during procedures, passing instruments, sutures, and supplies as required
  • Patient Advocacy and Safety: Advocate for patient safety and comfort throughout the surgical experience, addressing concerns and ensuring adherence to surgical protocols
  • Postoperative Care and Monitoring: Transfer patients to post-anesthesia care units (PACUs) or recovery rooms, monitoring their vital signs and postoperative status

You will maintain accurate and thorough documentation of intraoperative events, patient responses, and medications administered. You will also communicate effectively with healthcare team members, providing updates on surgical progress and postoperative outcomes.
