Atrium Health is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Cardiac Intensivist to serve as Medical Director of the Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit at Brenner Children's Hospital in Winston-Salem, NC.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a team approach to provide high-quality patient care in the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit
- Work with the Heart Center Co-Directors to integrate cardiovascular surgeons, intensivists, anesthesiologists, cardiologists, and advanced practice providers across both campuses
- Recruit, train, and develop new CICU staff
- Foster academic productivity and professional development of faculty and trainees
- Participate in national registries such as the Pediatric Cardiac Critical Care Consortium (PC4)
About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity to join a comprehensive Cardiac Neurodevelopment program in the Southeast, providing specialty services to congenital heart patients. The team includes 18 cardiologists, 3 congenital heart surgeons, 5 cardiac intensivists, 5 pediatric cardiac anesthesiologists, 2 pediatric cardiac radiologists, 22 APPs, 21 sonographers, 6 nurse navigators, and 9 dedicated RNs.
Requirements
- MD or equivalent
- Board certified in pediatric critical care, pediatric cardiology, or equivalent subspecialty with additional training or work experience in pediatric cardiac critical care
- Board certified in both pediatric critical care medicine and pediatric cardiology
- Leadership experience and a rank of at least Associate Professor
- Embracing the tripartite missions (clinical, research and education) of Wake Forest University School of Medicine
