Job Description

Insight Global is seeking an experienced Geotechnical Engineer to join one of the top Engineering firms in Springfield, MO. The Geotechnical Engineer will be responsible for coordinating project expectations and specifications with Geologists, preparing the scope of work and proposals for projects, reviewing reports for accuracy, and providing technical guidance on testing challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage geotechnical engineering projects from start to finish, ensuring adherence to project timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
  • Prepare proposals, contracts, and project documentation in collaboration with the project team.
  • Analyze geotechnical engineering boring logs and other data to assess subsurface conditions and provide recommendations for foundation design, slope stability, and earthwork.
  • Conduct geotechnical calculations using various software and engineering principles to determine soil and rock properties, bearing capacities, settlement analyses, and other geotechnical parameters.
  • Prepare detailed technical reports summarizing geotechnical findings, assessments, and recommendations for clients.
  • Oversee drilling equipment operations and geotechnical laboratory testing to ensure accurate data collection and analysis.
  • Perform field logging, inspections, and investigations to evaluate site conditions, conduct soil and rock sampling, and assess construction activities.
  • Maintain regular communication with the Drilling Lead to coordinate field drilling activities and provide technical guidance as needed.
  • Collaborate with the Construction Materials Manager for geotechnical projects that transition into the construction phase, ensuring compliance with geotechnical specifications and requirements.
  • Participate in activities requiring the application of geotechnical engineering principles and techniques, providing technical support and expertise to the project team.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Geotechnical Engineering or related field.
  • 4-10 years of professional experience in geotechnical engineering.
  • Geotechnical analysis and calculations.
  • Soil sampling, rock coring, groundwater measurements.
  • Experience planning geotechnical projects.
  • Writing proposals, handling bidding, communicating with clients and field staff.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
  • Ability to pass a drug screen and physical examination.
  • Flexibility to work overtime as needed and perform heavy lifting, if required.
