Job Title: Derrick Hand

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Derrick Hand to join our team at Steel Partners LLC. As a key member of our well service team, you will be responsible for safely working in the rig derrick to transfer rod sections and perform various tasks related to oil and gas well maintenance.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Work under the supervision of the Crew Operator to transfer rod sections and perform maintenance tasks
  • Operate the rod hoist and communicate with the crew operator to ensure safe and efficient operations
  • Climb ladders and work at heights up to 50 feet to perform tasks on the rig
  • Assist in the rigging up and rigging down of the workover rig
  • Perform maintenance services and repairs on oil and gas wells as part of a three-to-five-person crew
  • Participate in daily pre-job tailgate safety meetings and write JHA's
  • Inspect and document all lift equipment on location
  • Assist in training and mentoring SSE employees and floor hands as needed
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1-2 years of experience as a Floor Hand or equivalent
  • Basic problem-solving and organizational skills
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Minimum one year of basic oilfield service experience
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Class B CDL license to drive workover rig (not required but encouraged)
  • Ability to bend, stoop, and lift objects of up to 75 pounds for extended periods
  • Basic computer skills
  • Ability to pass company's pre-employment exam, including a drug screen and physical
  • Acceptable criminal history
