- Delivers high-quality patient care by utilizing the nursing process in a hospital setting.
- Reports to the Nurse Manager/Director and is accountable for patient care outcomes.
- Coordinates patient care by utilizing the nursing process and collaborating with interdisciplinary team members.
- Participates in identifying and meeting learning needs of self and others.
- Attends education programs based on identified learning needs and utilizes patient education materials.
- Assesses patient readiness to learn and developmental level, and identifies expected patient outcomes.
- Participates in discussions with interdisciplinary team members to evaluate patient care and communicates relevant information for continuity of care.
- Demonstrates competence in care of patients with complex problems, addressing physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety aspects.
- Performs bedside point-of-care testing as required and utilizes healthcare organization standards, policies, and procedures in delivering care.
- Prioritizes care according to patient needs, consulting with appropriate resources for complex care issues.
- Develops goals to promote professional growth or minimize limitations with assistance.
- Participates in development and achievement of unit goals and performance improvement activities.
- Promotes a safe, clean, and secure hospital environment.
- Assesses and anticipates discharge needs of patients and families, and collaborates with patient/family to update the plan of care using multidisciplinary resources.
- Demonstrates ability to prioritize tasks for patients with complex problems and reads relevant journals to bring applicable ideas and questions to staff discussions.
