Job Summary

The Dietary Aide plays a vital role in ensuring the high-quality food service experience for our residents. As a key member of our food service team, you will be responsible for preparing and serving meals, snacks, and special events, while maintaining a clean and safe working environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and portion food according to the planned menu, using proper food handling and safety techniques.
  • Ensure that meals and snacks are delivered to designated areas according to established time schedules.
  • Maintain the proper temperature of food during preparation and service, and record temperatures as required.
  • Serve resident meals and snacks accurately, in accordance with the planned menu, resident diet orders, and food preferences.
  • Label, date, and store food properly, and ensure that refrigerator and freezer temperatures are within the appropriate range.
  • Wash dishes, utensils, and equipment according to established procedures, and record water temperatures and sanitizer as required.
  • Keep work areas clean and uncluttered during preparation and service, and perform cleaning assignments as assigned.
  • Assist in receiving, storing, and verifying invoices for incoming food, supplies, and equipment.
  • Ensure that an adequate supply of food, supplies, and equipment is always available, and report inadequate stock levels to the supervisor in a timely manner.
  • Operate and maintain equipment in a clean and safe operating condition, and report any equipment problems to the supervisor promptly.
  • Make recommendations to the supervisor regarding improvements in recipes, menus, production, and service of food, equipment, and other aspects of the food service operation.
  • Work as a team member, interacting positively with residents, families, and visitors, and performing other tasks as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Tenth grade or above desirable.
  • ServSafe Food Safety Certification preferred, or other food safety certification as required in state or county of facility.
  • Experience in food service desired.
