The Trustees of Reservations is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Property Steward to join our team. As a Property Steward, you will play a critical role in the upkeep and maintenance of our properties, ensuring that they remain in excellent condition for the enjoyment of our visitors.
Key Responsibilities- Property Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance tasks, including mowing, trimming, brush cutting, trash removal, snow removal, tree work, equipment maintenance, trail maintenance, and vegetation management.
- Structural Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance of structures, including custodial, painting, light carpentry, and plumbing.
- Vehicle and Equipment Operation: Safely and efficiently operate and maintain tractors, UTVs, mowers, trucks, and trailers.
- Volunteer Management: Provide cheerful and positive oversight and recognition of volunteer efforts in the field.
- Project Management: Support the goals of the Annual Stewardship plan, including routine property maintenance and targeted completion of deferred maintenance projects.
- Public Representation: Professionally represent the organization as a public-facing presence at all properties.
- Relationship Building: Maintain positive and productive relationships with members, neighbors, visitors, and other Trustees staff.
- Training and Development: Work with the Stewardship Manager to identify meaningful volunteer and internship opportunities.
- Experience: 1-3 years of professional experience in property maintenance, landscaping, facilities management, a building trade, mechanics, or other experience related to the position.
- Education: Associate degree in Park Management, Horticulture, Forestry, Ecology, or another natural resource field.
- Skills: Ability to safely operate, repair, and maintain chainsaws, trimmers, brush cutters, mowers, and associated landscaping equipment. Basic carpentry and painting skills, and maintaining structures and buildings systems is a plus.
- Physical Demands: Physically hard work: must be able to lift to 50 lbs., pull and push heavy items, and climb ladders.
